Through all of the madness, stupidity, corruption and meanness of the convicted felon Donald Trump’s first month back in office, there have been some bright spots, some examples of courage and decency.
None of these examples comes from an elected Republican. These moral wimps in Congress have bent to Trump’s will, refusing to stand up for even the rights of their own institution. History will treat them as the complicit cowards they are.
But we did have the Federal prosecutors who resigned rather than drop corruption charges against New York Mayor Eric Adams. And now we have more than 20 techies who have quit their jobs rather than help Elon Musk in his reckless reign of terror.
“We swore to serve the American people and uphold our oath to the Constitution across presidential administrations,” the 21 staffers wrote in a joint resignation letter. “However, it has become clear that we can no longer honor those commitments.”

These 21 staffers get it. They get that their loyalty is to the Constitution, not to the President, whoever that may be, and certainly not to the convicted felon Trump.
And, of course, what Trump and Musk are doing is not just an assault on the Constitution. It’s also filled with the toxic combination of arrogance and ignorance, a hallmark of both of these guys. “Several of these interviewers (Musk’s aides) refused to identify themselves, asked questions about political loyalty, attempted to pit colleagues against each other, and demonstrated limited technical ability,” the staffers wrote in their letter. “This process created significant security risks.”
Donald Trump represents a full on assault on our Constitution and on our freedoms as Americans. The Republican Party is dead and worse than useless as an institution. So, it’s now down to the courts, to the midterm elections and to patriots like these who will refuse to be complicit in fascism.
YSDA stands for:
Free speech.
The rule of law.
Reason.
Tolerance.
Pluralism.
Some say that Trump will ignore the courts and that will be the beginning of a civil war….

Debbie,
I believe you are correct. I’m sure if he does, there will be consequences. Currently, we are very close to being in or are already in a Constitutional crisis. I don’t see this ending well for anybody. But this is what happens when you choose party over country. He should have never had a chance to get back in the WH. Pretty sure a lot of people who voted for TCF were looking for low prices at the store, and this is what they got.
