An Odd Angle

The Lincoln statue in front of Bascom Hall on the UW Madison campus is often photographed, but not often at night. I took this shot as I walked home on a breezy warm summer evening from my Sheepshead game at the Memorial Union. I won 75 cents.

Also, since Kamala Harris will announce her running mate tomorrow — and since it will likely leak some time today — I’m going to put in a plug for Josh Shapiro. Shapiro was always my top choice because she needs to win Pennsylvania, where the governor is very popular. But in the last week a new reason has emerged: the hard-left doesn’t like him. By selecting Shapiro, Harris will show her strength both within the party and to the general voting public. It’s vitally important that she show her independence from the small group of Democratic activists. They’ll huff and puff, but in the end they won’t pass on the chance to vote for a Black woman for president.

Odd Angles is a regular Sunday morning feature at YSDA. On my many walks around Madison I like to snap pictures of spots I like that nobody else would think to photograph.

  1. Agreed! But I will add that I have always been for Shapiro. He’s young, he’s handsome, he’s a former prosecutor and always knows just what to say! I will be shocked if she hires one of those other old, white guys. That’s right, I said it.
