The Trifecta of Idiocy

My patience — to the extent I’ve ever had any — with the unvaccinated officially runs out today. 

Yesterday, the FDA gave final approval to the Pfizer vaccine. Look, it was always a weak excuse to say that you wouldn’t get vaccinated because the vaccines had only emergency approval. And it was an especially rich excuse among those who don’t trust the government about anything, but now revere the FDA. But now it doesn’t matter. The FDA has signed off. Poof. Excuse gone. 

But a lot of you won’t do it anyway, will you? You know why? Because you’re an idiot. (Did I mention I’ve run out of patience with the unvaccinated?) At this point I don’t really give a shit about you anymore. But I do care about all the innocent, responsible people that you are putting at risk. Thanks to you, the Delta variant is surging and God only knows what other variants may yet emerge. This all could be over by know, but for you. You are, literally, killing people. 

So, let me now turn the YSDA podium over to the independently minded, if nominally Republican, former California Governor, actor (such as he is) and one-time resident of Superior, Wisconsin, Arnold Schwarzenegger. 

The Arnold spoke — forcefully, you might say — in an interview urging (well, telling) Americans to get vaccinated. Arnold spoke thus:

“There is a virus here — it kills people and the only way we prevent it is get vaccinated, get masks, do social distancing, washing your hands all the time, and not just to think about ‘well my freedom is being kind of disturbed here.’ No, screw your freedom.

“Yeah, you have the freedom to wear no mask — but you know something?” Schwarzenegger continued. “You’re a schmuck for not wearing a mask. You are supposed to protect your fellow Americans around you.

“We put the traffic light at the intersection so someone doesn’t kill someone else by accident,” Schwarzenegger said. “You cannot say, ‘No one is going tell me that I’m going to stop here at this traffic light here, I’m going to go right through it.’ Yeah, then you kill someone else and then it is your doing.”

Thanks, Arnold. I couldn’t — and wouldn’t — have said it better myself. We strive mightily here at YSDA to see things from multiple points of view. But anti-vaxers are just schmucks. They never had a case and now, with FDA approval, they have no leg to stand on at all. And, ya know what? If you disagree, don’t bother to send a comment. I’m done posting that crap. 

And, while I’m at it, COVID denial ranks with climate denial and election denial as the trifecta of idiocy. If you deny any one of those things, much less all three, you’re just a fool. It’s amazing to me that you can feed yourself, much less function in any meaningful way. 

Did I mention that I’ve lost my patience?
