The Q&Q For 1/18/25

This week’s quote comes to us from convicted felon and President-Reelect Donald J. Trump who said of his first day in office, this Monday:

“Your head will spin when you see what’s going to happen.”

  1. Trump promised: “On Day 1, I will launch the largest deportation program in American history. I will rescue every city and town that has been invaded and conquered.” Which one of these things have these invaders and conquerors NOT done?

A) Taken hard, low-paying jobs that nobody else wants.

B) Paid taxes for services they can’t access.

C) Provided workers for industries, like dairying, that could never find enough help without them.

D) Committed murder, rape and other violent crimes at a rate higher than American citizens.

2. Trump promised: “I will sign a Day 1 executive order ending automatic citizenship for the children of illegal aliens.”  What’s the catch?

A) It would take at least a week for attorney’s to draft an executive order this sweeping.

B) It would take an act of Congress to do this.

C) This would require a Constitutional amendment.

D) It’s widely recognized as a really stupid idea.

3. Trump promised that he would impose a 25% tariff on all imports from Canada and Mexico and put an additional 10% tariff on everything from China, as one of his first executive orders upon becoming president. Why might this not be a good idea?

A) Canada’s already a state. Duh. Why not impose a tariff on Iowa while we’re at it?

B) That snotty, sarcastic Mexican President is just going to make fun of us with another clever map trick.

C) The most valuable export from China is Tik Tok and we just banned that, so what’s the point?

D) People continue to worry over prices and high tariffs will just be passed along to consumers.

4. Trump promised: “On Day 1, I will sign a new executive order to cut federal funding for any school,,, that has a vaccine mandate or a mask mandate.” So, welcome back:

A) Polio.

B) Measles.

C) Whooping cough.

D) Thousands of perfectly avoidable childhood deaths.

5. Trump promised: “I will end the electric vehicle mandate on Day 1.” What’s the problem with this one?

A) It would take an act of Congress to eliminate the mandate.

B) American automakers are already tooled up to produce the vehicles en masse.

C) Elon Musk won’t like it.

D) There is no electric vehicle mandate.

6. Trump promised: “I’ll get the war with Ukraine and Russia ended. If I’m president-elect, I’ll get it done before even becoming president.”  He takes office in 48 hours from this writing. What’s the hold up?

A) He misspoke. He said “Ukraine” when he meant “Gaza” and he meant President Biden when he spoke of himself.

B) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy just can’t decide if he wants to be executed by firing squad or hanging.

C) The Poles stubbornly refuse to have their country tossed in as a sweetener at the last minute.

D) Vladimir Putin is being a hard ass over demanding a free week’s stay each year at the new Trump Hotel to be built in the center of Kiev.

  1. Good time to remember what convicted felon Nelson Mandela said in 1990:

“I greet you all in the name of peace, democracy and freedom for all. I stand here before you not as a prophet, but as a humble servant of you, the people. Your tireless and heroic sacrifices have made it possible for me to be here today. I therefore place the remaining years of my life in your hands.”
