The Q&Q For 6/8/24

This week’s quote comes to us from a spokesperson for the Supreme Court who said:

Justice Jackson is Crazy in Love With Beyonce’s Music. Who isn’t?

  1. In fact, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson is so in love with Beyonce’s music that, according to disclosures released by most of the justices this week, the singer gifted her:

A) Free tickets to one of her concerts valued at $900 a pop.

B) A special judicial robe, cut very high at the hip.

C) An autographed Cowboy Carter CD.

D) Free tickets, valued at $900 a pop, to her concert in Bali to which she was flown aboard the singer’s private jet and put up in Bali’s most exclusive hotel for three nights, the value of these incidental travel costs not disclosed.

2. All but three of the justices also have book deals. Brown Jackson’s forthcoming book is to be titled:

A) Put a Ring on It.

B) Lovely One.

C) Speak My Mind.

C) Dangerously in Love.

3. Justice Brett Kavanaugh also reported income (over $300,000) for a book deal. His working title is:

A) I Like Beer, Okay!

B) I Did Not Have Sex With That Woman.

C) The Preppiest Boy in Prep School.

D) No Bad Hair Days: My Six Secrets to a Perfect Cut.

4. Justice Clarence Thomas revealed still more gifts from a Republican mega-donor, who is:

A) Trammell Crow.

B) Harlan Crow.

C) Mickey Crowe.

D) Counting Crows.

5. Among Justice Samuel Alito’s gifts, he reported:

A) A new flag pole.

B) A confederate flag.

C) Marital counseling sessions.

D) Nothing. He didn’t file a report.

6. Supreme Court Justices need to rely on book deals and gifts because it’s hard to squeak by on their paltry salaries of:

A) $174,000.

B) $235,000.

C) $298,500.

D) $400,000.

Answers

1: A. It was actually Clarence Thomas who received a free trip to Bali aboard a private jet, but no Beyonce tickets were included.

2: B

3: Nobody knows, but he is expected to deal with allegations of sexual assault that were the subject of his confirmation hearings, so maybe it’ll be B.

4: B. Trammell Crow was Harlan’s father, Mickey Crowe was a high-scoring Wisconsin high school basketball player in the 1970s, and Counting Crows is more to my taste than Beyonce.

5: D

6: C. A is what congressmen make, B is what the vice president earns and D is the presidential salary.

That’s it for this week, friends. We’ll see you back here on Monday.
